Picture Perfect ~ Favorite

Since I had already posted one of my favorite pictures, I had to dig around for another one. While this one is not the most "perfect" picture in terms of quality, it really speaks to me.

This was taken with a Kodak Easyshare C813 during the early days of fall. It represents growth and strength to me, and also reminds me of the World Tree and Karma, so it has a definite spiritual flair for me. Besides, I just think its pretty. :)

The only editing that might have been done is Picasa's I Feel Lucky button. Not sure if it has or not, as I am still getting a feel for the program.

I'm very glad that I found the Picture Perfect group again, as I feel like my photography has gotten a wee bit stale lately.

Fern

I love this picture, it just speaks to me. I just love the color of the fern, and backed by the water, it just calls to me. That's why I'm now using it for my profile picture.

Cameras

Canon EOS 400D with battery grip BG-E3Image via WikipediaWhat do you look for in a camera? What bothers you about the one you have currently? What is your dream camera?

Unfortunately for me, my main thing right now is price. I just cannot afford a high-quality, top of the line setup right now. I'd love one though. I'd even be happy with just a $600 Canon DSLR. That's right folks, I have a point and shoot. Lame isn't it?

Believe it or not, I'm quite happy with my P&S, although it doesn't do everything I would want it to do. I tend to take a lot of dusk photos, and while this one handles better then my old one, it still just isn't up to snuff. The limited amount of functionality bothers me too. At least I can change the ISO and exposure. The zoom isn't so great on it either, once you hit a certain point, forget about getting a clear picture. The LCD display doesn't hold up in low light, and it does not come with a viewfinder. Makes getting those later in the day/inside under lamp light pictures hard. Definitely does not do macro.

I have the Kodak EasyShare C813. I told you I was all about price!

Right now my dream camera is the Canon Rebel EOS xti or the Nikon D40. Both seem to have most of what I need and want, and is a relatively cheap way to break into the land of the DSLRs. As I said, relatively...with a $600-$800 pricetag. I'm saving up. It might take awhile. Though by the time I get the money, I might have just jumped on to something else. But as long as its in that price range, I should be good!

Editing

Which do you prefer? It doesn't seem ANY different, but I messed around a tiny bit with the tiny amount of editing software that I have.

Photo Editing

Why do we edit photos? Does it really make that much of a difference? Who decided that the only way to be a good photographer is to be a good editor? I rather like my photos in raw format, but apparently I'm the only one. Or maybe I'm just deluding myself that I'm a half way decent photographer.

Fountain

Isn't it purty? That's the fountain outside of the Cancer Center. We went there for National Cancer Survivor's Day. Hello, free food, free stuff for the spawn...it was a decent event. Definitely on the agenda for next year.

Driving Pictures

This is what happens when you are a bored shutterbug...I would not recommend trying this stuff at home folks.

Apparently, the moon is hard to capture during the morning...when you are moving. I just couldn't get it to show, and couldn't really set up the shot, cause, well, I was driving.

Some early fall pictures...

Just Messing Around

Yeah, its an ashtray. One of those moments after you set the camera down and go...hey! That looks kind of cool...snap.

Roses And A Candle

Got the itch to just mess around a bit this morning, and was a bit bummed that I had forgotten to grab my camera for after I brought the spawn to school. I'm really itching to get some early fall pictures!

I keep some roses in my living room on a bookcase, and with the candle beside it and the soft morning light coming in through the shade, I just HAD to take a few shots.

Personally I think I like the third one the best.
